“A workshop is a way of renting an audience, and making sure you're communicating what you think you're communicating.” - Octavia Butler

Workshop Q & A
Q: Hey can you tell me more about this audition workshop class?
A: Think of a masterclass for  musical theatre songs.  Everyone has a chance to practice their song or cut in front of the group and receive feedback from local directors.

Q:  Will I just run through my piece one time then?
A:  We will work through each piece several times.  Each participant will sing once all the way through, then a few more times after feedback and discussion.

Q:  Will I be watching others in the class?
A:  Yes, that’s one important factor of the class – not only do we learn by doing, but we learn SO much by observing.  Not to mention, you may come away with new ideas for songs for your own book.

Q:  Do you only offer master classes for musical theatre songs?
A:  For now, yes.  We do spend time on discovering your musical theatre "type" and giving advice on headshots & theatre resumes.

Q:  How many pieces may I bring to workshop?
A:  Bring one per week!  Each week, we will explore a different genre.  Bring the sheet music for the entire song, and we will help you find the best cut for you!  The genre will be announced one week before each class, so you have time to find a piece that fits.

Q:  How do I sign up?  How much does it cost?
A:  Sign ups will be available in the Spring.  $200 or $175 for high school & college students.  Customized Payment Plans are available.

Q:  Can I audit the workshop and not sing?
A:  We want all workshop students to participate fully, so we will not allow auditing at this time.

Q:  Where are these Workshops being held?
A:  The Fine Arts Building on Missouri Baptist University's campus.

Q:  I’ve never worked with SPC before – should I still register?
A:  Yes! This is a chance to not only network with other theatre artists in the community but also for US to meet YOU.  :)

We hope to see you there!
